Madrid celebrates the 29th Transhumance Festival

AMNC partner TyN and the Madrid City Council organised the 29th Transhumance Festival in October 2022, to demand the improvement of livestock trails and support for transhumant grazing, in order to generate employment in rural areas and control forest fires.

Creating a common framework to assess the links between nature and cultural practices

The Alliance for Mediterranean Nature and Culture assessed the evidence of the environmental benefits of different cultural practices from the Mediterranean region at an international workshop in the city of Mersin, Turkey from 5-7th April 2022. We performed a joint assessment of these traditional cultural practices and worked towards establishing a common framework for measuring the benefits of the “cultural landscapes” in France, Greece, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey.

Synthesis: Coming Together to Create a Stronger Mediterranean Partnership

The Alliance for Mediterranean Culture and Nature continues to grow from strength to strength by drawing on our experiences as the M6 partnership, now harmonized as the AMNC, a new effective partnership for conserving the cultural landscapes of the Mediterranean.

This coming together was reflected beautifully in our long-awaited, in-person meet-up at the end of November. The AMNC partners gathered in the beautiful cultural landscapes of the Camargue in France, a biosphere reserve and natural park, home to a large diversity of animal and plant species.
